September 15 through October 15 marks Latine and Hispanic Heritage Month. We’re celebrating with a playlist specially curated by Logitech’s LogiAmigos employee resource group. Tune into an eclectic mix of Latine and Hispanic singers, songwriters, entertainers, tastemakers, and all of the above.
The Latine and Hispanic community has brought us hits that make you want to belt your heart out or get up and dance (maybe both?) decade after decade. From Latin Trap to Reggaeton to Dembow, and everything in between, these artists helped popularize different genres and musical styles across the globe through storytelling and representation – and making it their own.

Bad Bunny—“Tití Me Preguntó”
Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican singer, actor and occasional professional wrestler. Also popularly recognized as the “King of Latin Trap”, his discography and style blend Latin trap, reggaeton, and elements from a variety of other genres. Since his quick rise to fame, Bad Bunny has had a large part in helping bring Spanish-language music to worldwide mainstream popularity.
“Tití Me Preguntó” is a song off of his fifth studio album “Un Verano Sin Ti” – the first Spanish-language album to achieve a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. This hit single blends genres bringing together elements from Latin trap, dembow, and bachata. The song charted at number 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, and number 4 on the Billboard Global 200.

Selena—“Amor Prohibido”
Selena Quintanilla, known mononymously as Selena, is one of the most celebrated Mexican-American singers of the late 20th century. Also making Billboard magazine’s “Greatest Latino Artists of All Time” list in 2020. She’s often referred to as the “Queen of Tejano Music”, credited with launching Tejano music into a mainstream market. Tejano, or Tex-Mex, music is a popular music style that fuses both Mexican and American influences. Though traditionally known as a male-dominated genre, Selena continued her career performing Tejano and went on to win the Tejano Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year nine consecutive times. Selena had an amazing career including many, many awards and accolades from topping Billboard charts to winning Grammys to selling 18 million records worldwide.
“Amor Prohibido” is the lead title track off of Selena’s fourth studio album of the same name. This critically acclaimed Tejano cumbia dance-pop song is one of the singer’s most popular singles, known for topping the U.S. Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for nine consecutive weeks, being the most successful U.S. Latin single of 1994, and earning a certified 7x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The track earned Selena multiple awards and became the first Spanish-language song to receive a Broadcast Music Award in the pop category in 1996.

Karol G—“MI EX TENÍA RAZÓN”
Karol G is a Colombian singer known for her blend of Latin trap, reggaeton, and other genres like sertanejo. At just 14 years old, Karol G appeared on the Colombian version of The X Factor and just a few years later signed with a record label. Since then, she’s collaborated with numerous influential Latine artists like Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Shakira, Ozuna, and J Balvin. Also teaming up with other big artists like Nicki Minaj – their Song “Tusa” charted internationally earning a certified 28x Latin Platinum by the RIAA and stayed on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for twenty-five weeks. She’s received multiple award nominations and wins, including a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist in 2018.
“MI EX TENÍA RAZÓN” is a cumbia pop song off Karol G’s second mixtape “Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season)” – reaching top 10 in seven countries, number 22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and number 14 on Spain’s PROMUSICAE chart. In the U.S. it became the highest charting Spanish song by a solo female artist. In an interview, Karol G shared that this track was inspired by Selena and her Tejano musical style.

Rosalía—“DESPECHÁ”
Rosalía is a Spanish singer, songwriter, and producer widely recognized as one of the most successful and influential Spanish singers of all time. Her unique, genre-bending musical style has caught the attention of critics and the general public, reimagining flamenco by mixing it other genres like pop, hip-hop, urbano, and reggaeton. Rosalía has earned critical acclaim with eleven number-one singles in Spain, two Grammy Awards, twelve Latin Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, three U.K. Music Video Awards, a spot on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, and more. She also made history as the first Spanish-singing act to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. Well earned, she was recognized by Billboard with the Rising Star Award for “changing the sound of today’s mainstream music with [her] fresh flamenco-influenced pop.”
“DESPECHÁ” is a mambo track with elements of merengue and electropop off of the deluxe version of Rosalía’s third studio album “Motomami.” The single’s release was met with broad commercial success, becoming the biggest streaming debut for a Spanish-language song by a female artist in Spotify history. It became her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, her highest charting single on the Billboard Global 200, and topping charts in Spain, Panama, Uruguay, and seventeen other countries.

Celia Cruz & Johnny Pacheco—“Quimbara”
Celia Cruz was a Cuban singer and actress, mastering a wide variety of Afro-Cuban music styles that include guaracha, rumba, afro, son, and bolero. She’s considered one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century. In her rise to fame, she was known as “La Guarachera de Cuba” in her native Cuba and went on to earn the nickname “Queen of Salsa” on an international scale. Cruz is one of the best-selling Latin music artists, winning numerous awards and distinctions including two Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards.
“Quimbara” is the lead single off of the 1974 studio album “Celia & Johnny” which brings Cruz and Dominican recording artist Johnny Pacheco together. As a nine-time Grammy nominee and Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipient, Pacheco was known worldwide for his role in the evolution of Latin music, influencing salsa and pachanga (a blend of Cuban rhythms and Dominican merengue). The collaborative album was listed by the U.S. Library of Congress in the National Recording Registry as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and selected by Billboard as one of the “50 Essential Latin Albums of the Last 50 Years.”

Anitta—“Funk Rave”
Anitta is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and dancer – known for being a major force in the Brazilian and Portuguese music scene. Her work blends pop, reggaeton, and funk carioca, a Brazilian musical style that blends hip-hop, Miami bass, and gangsta rap. Her albums that blend Portuguese, Spanish, and English have topped charts and gone certified platinum – making history as the first solo Brazilian and first solo Latin American artist to top Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart and as the first Brazilian artist to lead a global music chart on Billboard Global. Throughout her career, she’s received numerous awards and accolades including several nominations at the Latin Grammy Awards, seven wins at MTV Europe Music Awards, a win at MTV Video Music Awards, and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist among others.
“Funk Rave” is the first single on her seventh EP “Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story.” At its debut, the track garnered over 2 million unfiltered streams on Spotify – hitting the global Spotify chart and solidifying Anitta as the Brazilian artist with the highest debut on Spotify Global for the seventh consecutive year. “Funk Rave” also allowed her to extend her record as the artist with the highest number of songs at number one on Apple Music and iTunes in Brazil and the most songs to enter the top 5 chart on Spotify Brazil.

Bizarrap & Shakira—“Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”
Bizarrap is an Argentine DJ and record producer known for his work in EDM, Latin trap, and rap music as well as his popular “Bzrp Music Sessions” series. In 2023, he teamed up with Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira for Volume 53. This track reportedly “broke the internet” upon its release, breaking viewership and listenership records for a Latin song. It’s catchy sound was musically praised and topped charts in 16 countries and the Billboard Hot Latin Songs.
Independently, Bizarrap received a nomination for Producer of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards and Shakira is widely referred to as the “Queen of Latin Music.” Shakira has a reputation for her musical versatility, being a pioneer in extending the global reach of Latine singers, and opening doors for other Latine artists. She’s sold over 95 million records, solidifying her as one of the best-selling music artists of all time and the best-selling female Latin artist of all time. Deservedly, Shakira has received many awards and accolades throughout her career including three Grammys, twelve Latin Grammys, five MTV Video Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, thirty-nine Billboard Latin Music Awards, and twenty-one Guinness World Records among others.

Fuerza Regida & Grupo Frontera—“Bebé Dame”
American regional Mexican bands Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera partnered together on “Bebé Dame” – a Mexican cumbia song. The single reached number one on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart in the U.S. and Mexico, and hit number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was Fuerza Regida’s first song to reach the Billboard Hot 100 and their highest-charting song to date as well as Grupo Frontera’s first top 40 hit. Grupo Frontera’s commercial success with “Bebé Dame” and most recent collaboration with Bad Bunny on “Un x100to” became integral to the breakthrough of the regional Mexican genre.

Juan Luis Guerra 4.40—“Burbujas de Amor”
Juan Luis Guerra is a Dominican singer-songwriter and one of the most internationally recognized Latin artists of recent decades. He’s most known for his musical style of merengue and Latin fusion, but has incorporated other influences like bolero, salsa, cumbia, reggae, R&B, jazz, and folk among others. He’s also credited for popularizing bachata on an international scale. Guerra is one of the best-selling Latin music artists with 15 million records sold worldwide. Throughout his career, he’s won 23 Latin Grammys, three Grammys, and one Latin Billboard Music Award.
“Burbujas de Amor” is a single released off his 1990 album “Bachata Rosa” which became an international hit across Europe and Latin America. It peaked at number 2 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, was rated 8 on Billboard’s Top 50 Best Latin Songs of All Time, and number 21 on Rolling Stone’s 50 Greatest Latin Pop Songs list. It’s widely considered as one of Guerra’s most popular songs, receiving universal critical acclaim for its sophisticated lyrics and elegance.

Héctor Lavoe—“El Cantante”
Héctor Lavoe was a Puerto Rican salsa singer, known for his personality, style, and voice. Throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s, Lavoe helped establish the popularity of salsa and is widely regarded as the best and most important singer and interpreter in the history of salsa music. His voice and musical ability solidified himself as one of the Latin public’s favorite singers. In 2000, he was posthumously inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame and in 2023 Rolling Stone ranked him at number 73 on their 200 Greatest Singers of All Time list.
“El Cantante” is Lavoe’s signature song, written by Panamanian singer and composer Rubén Blades and produced by Puerto Rican American musician Willie Colón, also considered a pioneer of salsa music. A 2006 biographical film about Lavoe’s life takes its title from this song.

In the Heights (Original Broadway Cast Recording)—“Carnaval Del Barrio”
Written and scored by Lin-Manuel Miranda, this popular Broadway musical tells the story of a tight knit community in the largely Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York City. In the Heights received multiple award nominations including four Tony wins and one Grammy win, also earning a film adaptation in 2021.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, an actor, songwriter, and playwright of Puerto Rican, Mexican, and African-American descent, is an active supporter of initiatives that increase the representation of people of color throughout the arts and government, ensure access to women’s reproductive health, and promote resilience in Puerto Rico.
“Carnaval Del Barrio” is a song that celebrates the vibrancy, sense of community, and resilience of Latine culture and the immigrant experience while also acknowledging the challenges they face. Using bilingual lyrics to reflect the bilingualism of many Latine communities in the U.S. The song also emphasizes the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural traditions through its use of the Spanish language.
